About the role

Higher Ground USA seeks a Chief Executive Officer to lead a mission-driven organization providing therapeutic recreation for people with disabilities, veterans, and first responders. The CEO will guide strategy, operations, and fundraising while strengthening a collaborative, community-centered culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Set organizational strategy and lead operational execution with the Board
• Strengthen fundraising, partnerships, and national visibility
• Oversee budgets, financial controls, and compliance
• Ensure high-quality program delivery and continuous improvement
• Build trust with staff, volunteers, and community stakeholders

Candidate Profile

• 5+ years as a CEO/Executive Director or C-suite leader
• Experience leading nonprofit operations, budgets, and teams (20+ staff)
• Strong fundraising and relationship-building capabilities
• Commitment to disability, veteran, and adaptive recreation communities
• Collaborative, empathetic leadership with high emotional intelligence

Travel

• Moderate travel required

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $140,000 - $170,000
• Benefits include health coverage, paid leave, IRA matching, and professional development
