Consultance - Transition Officer, MdM International

About the Role

Médecins du Monde - Belgique is seeking a Transition Officer consultant to coordinate organizational restructuring efforts across the MdM international network.

Contract Type: Consultancy Duration: Until end of 2026, with possible extension into 2027 Workload: 50-80 days over 10 months Location: Remote - can be based in any country with an MdM chapter Travel: Required to Europe and other MdM chapters

Key Responsibilities

Organizational Analysis & Strategy

  • Conduct comprehensive SWOT analyses of the MdM network structure
  • Perform benchmarking studies comparing MdM with other international NGO networks
  • Map current organizational structures with detailed risk assessments
  • Identify opportunities and challenges in the restructuring process

Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop and implement communication strategies for the transition process
  • Facilitate stakeholder consultations across the MdM network
  • Coordinate between different MdM chapters and organizational levels
  • Ensure transparent and inclusive decision-making processes

Governance Support

  • Support governance bodies in making informed strategic decisions
  • Provide expert advice on organizational change management
  • Guide implementation of restructuring initiatives throughout 2026
  • Monitor and evaluate transition progress

Requirements

Experience

  • 10+ years of international project management experience in the humanitarian or international NGO sector
  • Proven experience in organizational change management
  • Track record of successfully managing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives
  • Experience working with international networks or multi-country organizations

Skills & Competencies

  • Project Management: Strong ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Facilitation: Excellent facilitation skills for workshops, consultations, and collaborative processes
  • Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to build consensus and manage diverse stakeholder interests
  • Analysis: Expertise in benchmarking, comparative analysis, and organizational assessment
  • Strategic Thinking: Capacity to balance strategic vision with operational realities

Language Requirements

  • English: Fluent (required)
  • French and/or Spanish: Advantageous

Other Requirements

  • Valid work permit for Europe
  • Flexibility to travel to Europe and other MdM chapters as needed
  • Comfortable with remote coordination and online collaboration tools

Work Environment

Remote Work: The position is fully remote and can be based in any country where there is an MdM chapter. Most coordination and consultation can be conducted online.

Travel: While the role is primarily remote, some travel to Europe and other MdM chapters will be necessary for in-person consultations, workshops, and meetings.
