Position Overview
This senior role involves supporting country offices facing finance department gaps through field deployments (2 weeks to 2 months), producing comprehensive field reports, developing procedure recommendations, and participating in headquarters finance directorate projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Support country offices with finance department challenges during field missions
- Conduct field assessments and provide technical financial expertise
- Produce detailed field reports and documentation
- Draft end-of-mission reports with recommendations
- Develop and recommend improved financial procedures and controls
- Participate in finance directorate strategic projects at headquarters
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies
- Provide training and capacity building to field finance teams
- Deploy internationally on short-notice for urgent support needs
Work Pattern
- 85% field-based: International deployments lasting 2 weeks to 2 months
- 15% headquarters-based: Paris office for strategic projects and planning
- Flexible deployment to multiple countries based on organizational priorities
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Management Control, or related field
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in similar finance roles within NGOs
- Proven experience in international humanitarian or development contexts
- Experience managing finance departments or teams
- Field mission experience in challenging environments
Technical Skills:
- Strong expertise in financial management and reporting
- Knowledge of donor compliance requirements
- SAGA accounting software experience (highly preferred)
- Proficiency in financial analysis and control systems
Languages:
- French: Fluent (required)
- English: Professional working proficiency recommended
Compensation & Benefits
Salary:
- Monthly gross: €2,597–€2,968 (based on experience)
- 13th month salary included
- Multi-country position allowance: 15% of base salary
Family Benefits:
- Child allowance: €1,500/year per child (maximum €6,000/year)
